Our Ingredients
Most of us realize that our skin is our largest organ, but somehow manage to forget how much harm we can do with its super high absorbency capabilities. Each day, we put body care products in and on ourselves for varying reasons, e.g. soap, shampoo, toothpaste, make-up, etc. Would you want to put something on your body that you would never consider consuming and putting into your body?
Are you aware what's in your deodorant today? We do, and it's not pretty! In fact, it can be downright dangerous with continuous application over time.
As most are aware, one of the most common ingredients used in antiperspirants is aluminum. Aluminum is a metal which is used to help block the sweat from escaping the pores of the skin. Aluminum has been linked to breast cancer in women, prostate cancer in men, and has also been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease. However, the FDA has not committed to classifying it as a carcinogen. Their position remains one of “wait and see” as more definitive studies are released. Startling? Read on!
Additionally, parabens are another preservative that is often added to deodorants to help prevent bacteria from growing. Parabens mimic estrogen, resulting in hormonal disruption that has been previously linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues.
Triclosan is another hormonally disruptive chemical found in deodorants. You might have heard that the FDA banned triclosan from antibacterial soaps in 2016, but its use is still permitted in deodorants. We're not sure why it is still allowed, but it’s important to note that it is a synthetic pesticide linked with hormone disruption, increased risk of breast cancer, liver damage, cancer & the development of super-germs.
There also a slew of other additives that can be found in deodorants, such as phthalates, silica, talc, propylene glycol, fragrances, etc. Most of these ingredients have been linked with forms of skin irritation, dermatitis, immunotoxicity, allergies, organ damage, and cancer.
Enough is enough, right?!? We don't want to scare you entirely out of using deodorant. After all, we don't want you being the talk of the workplace or yoga class with your ripe onion scent filling the air! This is precisely why we're focused on helping you with a safe, clean, organic alternative to your everyday conventional and/or natural deodorant. Consider us your safe place where you don't have to worry about doing any bodily harm yet want to smell great all day long!
